    I'd buy it!

But not at that price. Move the decimal point about two places to the left.

If we were to post all the overpriced, overgraded, counterfeit etc... coins that we see on eBay, this would be the busiest thread in the history of C.T.

This is certainly not the first seller to offer severely impaired (to put it mildly) coins at premium prices. Ebay actually abounds with such, as we all know. However, in my opinion, this case is blatant to the point that I have to wonder if he is actually serious.

I hadn't realised that he is located in Germany. Maybe his primary objective is to sell to European collectors of US coins who due to lack of familiarity may not be as discriminating about cleaning and damage as collectors in the USA? who knows.

Quite possibly so. Then again, most dealers around here (at least on sites like MA-Shops) do mention that a coin is heavily cleaned, even if the customers they aim at are here in Germany.

Now the pricing for that gem ;) oh well. Funny that at the bottom they say that "We are the biggest US Coin Dealer in Germany." Really?

I was nervous about buying from outside the US, but I paid PayPal, and it arrived safely.

So, if you want it, go for it

Hehe, the one in the initial post for example I would not touch. ;) Just found it odd that anybody would point at the fact that the seller is in Germany and add "be careful". Eduard and I for example are both in DE. Not a big deal though.

And @Eduard - no, I don't think Danny Pfeiffer is on MA-Shops. See here:

Edit - Just noticed that last year somebody here asked about DP, but that turned out to be OK.

Just wondering how much longer they manage to stay in business... or are there enough collectors (cough, cough) out there who are flying for nicely polished coins?

    I'm confirming that Danny
Just to confirm; Pfieffer is not a seller on MA-Shops.com. There are more dealers in Europe and especially so in Germany that have interest in selling on MA-Shops. MA-Shops has specific eligibility criteria for sellers.
