I was going to donate this coin to charity, but I decided to donate a better coin instead to the charity, so I still have this coin which I found in an old safety deposit box. So I'll give it to you instead. Post why you want it and I'll enter each of you into a random number generator by order of post and pick out a winner....unless your reason for wanting it is so good I decide to just give it to you instead? No entries with less than 100 posts or at least 1 month on Cointalk (Sorry, but I learned from my last experience.)
I nominate @Shrews1994..... She gets so excited about attributing a coin and I love to read her posts as she is working out the attribution.
It'd be cool because I'm just recently (the past couple of years?) getting into ancients and I don't have one of this guy yet (not giving any attribution away, even though I'm pretty sure I have most of it!) Thanks for doing a cool giveaway.
Yea. I gave away loads of coins previously, but I got tired of feeding Ebay. Jaded? Surely. Justified? Definitely!
..i'd like to add Erin (@Johndakerftw) to the list of deserving candidates big O.....i just called the bank about my box yesterday..i haven't been in that for about 20 years....and i have no idea what, if anything, is in there...
wow, I have always wanted an ancient coin. The reason: I collect coins! But, to date I have been afraid of buying them since I have little knowledge about them and I am afraid of getting 'screwed' on purchasing a phony. This may get me to buy a nice reference book on these, and, side note: I love history, so reading up on the history of the person on the coin would greatly enhance the pleasure of ownership. That is one amazing piece. Thanks for the chance. Frank
It would be my first ancient coin. It would be great having a coin older than my oldest Belgium coin 1832. I have been wanting to get into ancient coins, but I don't know enough about them. Like the post above "I am afraid of getting 'screwed' on purchasing a phony". I too would be prompted to buy some reference books. I would very much enjoy the history part, the aesthetics part, and the research part of knowing everything about this coin. I too like giving coins away for contest. Thank you for your generosity. Good karma comes from this. Thanks, Craig.
Great giveaway, @Sallent! I'd love to be the next caretaker of this Trajan. I don't have a Trajan denarius in my collection and would welcome it. It's been through many hands and would love it to be in mine for some amount of time. Now, I'm not a Genius, but I may just make a sacrifice of my own towards this coin finding it's next happy home—where ever that is. Here's to your generous giveaway!
It's a much better portrait of T-RAGE (and cooler reverse) then I have. And if I won you could rest assured you would be seeing it from time to time in threads dedicated to the energetic Augustus. I'll throw my hat in the ring. Though it does beckon the question, what happened last time?
Thank you @Sallent I intend, in the future, to come over to the dark side and actively collect ancients (once I stop moving around so much). I've taken a step in that direction by starting to focus predominately on German States coinage. I would love to add this coin to my collection and can assure you that it will not be sold (so long as I'm alive and my family has food on the table, should either of those two fail, all bets are off ).
Here's the entries for the random number generator.... 1. Shrews1994 2. Dougmeister 3. Johndakerftw 4. Treashunt 5. Mkman123 6. Spirityoda 7. Justin Lee 8. Ryro 9. Seattlite86 And the winner is.....(Running #s now)
Some people who have been identified as scammers by their IP addresses by the forum, opened brand new accounts to claim the coins. This ticked me off to no end and made me realize why some giveaways in the past demand that the participants have 100+ posts or have been members for a certain amount of time.
I would love it!! But I've been given many coins on here from great members. (Haven't won any) but giving to me. it's a blessing! but I don't want to to be greedy so let other newer members on here have at it! Good luck to ya'll! That's a very nice piece to have.
