On this coin, almost the entire reverse image is destroyed by a countermark. But I bought it because of this flaw. It's my avatar.

    pergamon.jpg

    AE 21, 200-133 BC
Obv.: laureate head of bearded Asklepios
Rev.: ΑΣΚΛΗΠΙΟΥ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ, snake coiled around omphalos, without monogram, countermark owl.

    Interesting subject. Therefore next (again):

I am offended by the calling of that owl countermark a flaw. He was, too. See how he is trying to get off the flan. Mine is loved and resting right in the middle of the snake.

John of England AR cut 1/2d
Cut pennies need to be selected to allow ID. I don't collect English to any extent but liked the way this one showed on the reverse M.L.ON.LVN. There were three moneyers named Willelm at London under John so they had to include a last initial making my sliver of an M all that as needed for a full ID. I could have had the whole first name and been missing the initial. That would be unfortunate. Is the X clear enough to say whether this is class 6a?
