I was searching through a roll of LMC's that I got in April. I found 4 coins that have obvious markings showing they were all struck with the same die pair. The Mintmark and some really reflective die scratches at bottom of Memorial. There is also some die scratches top/rev that almost look like die cracks. (and yes, all large date.)
@alurid Yeah, it's cool to find coins that came from the same die. That is why I used to buy bags of the same date & mintmark whenever I could. I once found 228 "Y" clashes in a $50 Mint bag of 1980 Philly Lincoln cents that came from the same die because of the unique markers that all had. Nice find! Chris
Those are fun finds. I have been looking through some mint rolls that I got back in the 50's, and 60's. They were obviously rolled at the mint from the same run. Some roll have identical die marks and some have progressive marks. Enjoy.
Those scratches look like a devil of a cleaning to me. Are the scratches raised? Then I'd think differently........
That's why I hate pennies to this day. It would give me headaches looking at them, so the bag took me 4-1/2 years to finish. Chris
