I usually don't pay any attention to Bicentennial quarter but this one jumped at me for lack of better words. The picture quality is lack luster and there is some debris like my cats hair near Washington's ear but overall this coin is nice for being pulled from circulation. The hard hit on the U from UNUM sucks and some minor scratches and the die crack that runs between the BE in LIBERTY. It doesn't take much to excite me these days lol. With the pic's provided what do you think this coin would grade? PCGS photo grade has one in my own personal opinion has more hard hits for the ms67+ but I dont have a clue on grading. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1976-25c-clad/5896
I'd say yours is MS something...62 63. I'm not sure how accurate those PCGS photos are. I think they use some plain old stock photos of coins. Yours is a nice coin. Very nice fields!
Meow would say MS66+ at best. But it is very nice if found in circulation. Meow finds that out of all old school clad quarters, the 1976 is the easiest to find in decent condition. Meow thinks a ton of these where horded in the day, and they get put back into circulation with relatively low mileage for a coin that old.
Very nice looking coin. As @Razz said, photos of the entire coin would make it easier to take a stab at the grade.
Very nice! Love the coloring. I think was in someone's collection for most of its life. A strong 66 in my opinion.
and that is exactly why when I see them I usually just pass on. I wish just got this crappy usb scope.
There's a chip, or something, near the obverse rim between 3 and 4 o'clock. Still a nice looking piece. Probably from a mint set.
I have a box I throw bicentennial quarters in. They were exciting to me when they were released. My young numismatic fires were burning and we hadn’t seen anything new from the mint in decades. So yes, I hoard them. I must say I have never ever seen one that sweet pulled from circulation. That is one sweet pick!
There are a lot of tired longs. I'd guess the spot on the right side obverse did it in. Without the spot it looks like MS-66. Now days there's just no market unless the coin is among the 100 finest known. As issued (probably in a '75 mint set) this coin was in the top .5%
Yes. This. These spots form quite easily and a large percentage of '75 mint sets have a badly corroded Philly quarter.
