Barber dime

    Is this some type of clipped planchet? I've seen straight and rounded clips before but I'm not sure. It doesnt look like a hit imo,what do you guys think? DMG?

    I have never seen a clip with that sharp of a curve. Looks like some, like it's been notched out.

    Agree, it looks like somebody filed/ground away a part of the coin. Check the edges and you may still see some remnants of file marks. Bottom line is I don't see how this could occur at the mint

    It doesn't look like a clip to me, either. Actually, I'm wondering if someone didn't just take a chunk out of it to add to their "silver stash". If I recall, the Mint resorted to applying the reeded edge to their silver coins to thwart people from doing this.
