I don’t have images of my large eagle bust 1798 I just got and my type 2 seated - 1872 au 58. Only thing I’m missing is a gobrecht and a continental

Ok Mainebill, that is the most gorgeous Ike I've ever seen and the trade dollar is really nice as well. Between you and John Milton, I don't know which set is nicer, but you both have incredible eyes for coins. I started off in awe of those two 1795 varieties, but that Ike, has to be toward a top coin. Is it ranked?

Might be. But notice the similar “noise” all over the obverse.

Lol. I don’t think so I paid stupid money for it cause I liked it. I’m not at all a modern coin guy. The 1795s are my kind of coin. And I seriously collect trade dollars. But I figured an Ike was the last big dollar and I used to exchange dollar bills for them when I was a kid so I wanted a great one

I'm not a big Ike guy either I prefer more silver content, but I love the tone on that one, the way its evenly distributed and the super clean fields and of course the deep cameo. I have a pretty good number of AU Ikes, every date, along with all of the proofs as well, but that coin of yours is outstanding.

Trade dollars do have a certain mystique don't they? Even the name itself and the way they were distributed along with the design, great coins. I'm strictly a type collector but I was fortunate to inherit a good number of coins, mostly early 20th century types.

I was working on a type set kind of on hiatus for awhile as life got in the way. And am trying to do trade dollars with proofs except 84 and 85 unless I win the power ball in au and better with good original surfaces I have quite a few

The reverse on the first 74 trade dollar is amazing, all the detail present, I like the way the eye of the eagle is so distinct on that one. What is the grade if you don't mind me asking?

I prefer the obverse of the toned 1880.

    The day has arrived. $1 B morgan-horz-vert.jpg
This is what the set looks like. It's in a frame and has 12 screws holding the Capitol holder together. So it's not likely that I'll open it up to shoot.
