Interesting coin. Interesting topic for a Venezuelan gold coin. Never heard of it. Looks like a lot of people want it!
$1,500 Just a wild guess. I'm curious. Was this a joint venture by Italy and Venezuela? And, was it a commemorative alone? Or, in a series? If you reply, thank you. If no reply, thank you for the thread.
I'm surprised to see it graded because I have trouble believing it's an official coin. There are just things about it that make it seem like an unofficial issue. I've never seen or heard of any real coins depicting the Axis powers from World War II.
Right, that is not a coin. But that bank (Banco Italo Venezolano) issued quite a few of those "Caciques" (Chiefs) pieces - basically round gold bars. Here is a page (in German) that shows some more. Christian
The guy/gal says s/he is selling his collection---a dude after my own heart with lots of dupes, including 3 of the Albanian 5 FrA, and 18 of the 1924 Rouble (19 if you count the proof). I hope he's got some more to sell! S/he is a hoarder. I understand that, though not to that degree.
@Stork A 5 frangi is pricey and this person owns 3 high grade ones, and hoarded up all those high grade russian roubles too!! I wonder what else they have!!
Right!! Those are not insignificant ones at all. I confess I did the 'contact the seller' to see if he had any more Albanian coins to list (so I'd hold off on upcoming auctions as his stuff is pretty awesome so far). He said this was it for his selling for now.
@Stork darn! I was hoping the seller had more world crowns to for sale!! Seriously this seller was hoarding some expensive coins......take a look at their completed auctions......whistles
My guess was 1340 being Canadian I was only off by 8 dollars 1026 US is equal to 1348 Canadian . LOL Dillan That sure is a nice commemorative , I would like to have that , I did however think it might go higher then the final price!
