"S" is significantly North, and West. Also, tilted. Where are my haters?? I need to hear how they only see wear and damage. 20190724_225525.jpg 20190724_230142.jpg 20190724_230242.jpg 20190724_230113.jpg 20190724_231959.jpg

At a glance it looks like a D over S. But the closeup shots are too blurry to confirm that. The coin is also pretty beat up. So its more likely PMD from the D getting hit, and stretching.

Is there a known variety of D over S in a 1955 dated cent?

    I checked about 3 or 4 sites and couldn't find any listings for a D over S.

So Meow thinks it need a high resolution close up picture, with light sources from multiple angles.

Meow holds a coin like that in one paw right up to the microscope camera, and with the other paw holds a LED light to shine at it from different angles.

Actually they tolerate you pretty well, as long as you don't get too delusional.

It does look good at a glance, with those pictures. But would you not think if it was legit, it would be quite a find. So would it take this long to discover such a major variety of a 1955 penny in 2019?

Leave me out of this! I'm one of the haters! I don't respond to this guys threads. Especially any title with the word Discovery in it! The cat gave great answers.. But he will soon be a hater also.

it's too much damage without seeing close pics within focus. I will say PMD

If this coin were not so beat up I would be more inclined to say it could be D/S, but I'm not a believer until Fred et al weigh in. Were mint marks punched in at the branch mints or a central location? If they were punched in at each branch mint it seems unlikely this is D/S.

Skeptics do not a hater make.
