XF is what I was thinking too! Thanks. There is some really nice doubling on the obverse and reverse of the coin that is not evident in the pictures. I tried to capture it, but it was too fine. I assume this would be considered machine doubling as well. I don't know too much about this series since I don't collect these. Any info would help.

The doubling that you see on the Legend, especially the obverse on United States... is commonly called Longacre doubling, after the designer.
It is common to coins designed by Longacre, and has no added value, since it is a result of the punches used for the legends.
Nice coin, by the way, variety: open 3.

Nice coin and I agree XF40. As mentioned it has a nice color to it.

    Correction to myself:

Note: There is an 1873 DDo.
But: It is the closed 3 variety, and the doubling is on the Liberty.

Cool! Unfortuantely, my doubling is on United States of America and One Cent. Thanks.

Thanks for the info on the Longacre doubling... never heard of that before.

I would have to say VF-30 due to a lack of detail on the feathers, ribbon diamonds, and shield lines. But it is possible that what i'm seeing is just the result of a weak strike or even light reflection in the photo.

Bad pic. I am finding out that copper is not as easy to photograph as is silver. I am working on it though.

Thanks JMC! Its the nicest one I own. I don't collect them but I do have a few that were passed down to me from my grandparents. None were as nice as this one. I put this one aside years ago. Down at my local coin shop I am currently bidding on a 09 UNC on the local bid board. Don't expect to win it, but it does look nice.

Here is my best one, but you cant read all the letters and see all the diamonds on the necklace.

I may have one or two others that show Liberty in the headband but the rest of my IHC look like yours. Nice coins to collect in high grades... if you have the $$$$.

First - nice coin. Second - in the picture I can see all of liberty. I have found some times on lower grade coins using 16x or 10x actually makes the details harder to see. So I see absolutely nothing wrong with this coin. I have IHC's from ag all the way through MS65. I say collect the coins and buy the best coin you can of the grade. So my final graded set will be VF25 through ms65. I do not need a complete set of 64RB's - besides I couldn't afford that. Then my ungraded - raw set will be ag up to MS details(some of them are cleaned). It is almost funny to look at the dansco album. You have an AG coin setting next to a ms cleaned coin. Kind of weird, but I like it. Enjoy!

I dont wanna intrude on the OP's thread here, so i will leave it at this, I always thought that if you can not clearly read the liberty in the coin (which i can not) then it was labeled as not full liberty, (mine is all blotched) and sort of undistinquishable. but thank you for the kind words.
