    Obviously ground down with a grinder.
    It is damaged not a mint error.

    PMD, post mint damage. Someone purposely ground that nickel down. Why? Who knows. Welcome to CT.

    I think you'll find that there are all sorts of "crazies" out there that have nothing better to do with their time other than to deface coins and smoke crack.
