Does anyone know why the 2019 Pride of 2 Nations coin set cost the different from US and Canada ?? I know that there are 100K for US to sell and 10K for Canada . Isn't both coins are the same design and process ? So why the different cost and the selling price from ebay ? Anyone know ?

The Canada set is more rare. they are the same coins. its the set rarity, prices are always changing they just flooded the market. I sold one of my sets local already, keeping the other, did not want to wait 2 years.

Same coins but rarer which to me is like they think we are stupid or stupid. Couldn't someone buy a Canadian box and put the US version into it ??

worth a try lol. don't know if they sell the box from RCM. im sure someone has tried that. if you go through the sets on ebay, even the us set prices have a huge difference in prices from one to the next, I usually try to look at different formats to find the best deal (newly listed, lowest/highest)

Sigh, Meow wanted one. Could not afford it, and had to pass. Maybe Meow should not have bought that legion medal coin set, and bought this instead. Meow thinks the mint puts out too many products. At least a little less product would be reasonable for poor Cats. Oh yea, @Autoturf you brought that coin currency set to Meow's attention, that Meow now just has to have in the paws. this place keeps Meow informed a bit too much on things Meow cannot afford all of. Good, or bad?

Here is a perfect example. Until reading this post Meow did not know there was a different Canadian version. And of course Meow would want one now...……………… Look at it on fleabay like a bird in the window, and pathetically trill...………………...

If you mean why was it more expensive from the Canadian mint than from the US mint, it is because the US dollar is worth $1.30 Canadian so the price at the Canadian mint was about 30% higher. If you mean why is it higher on the aftermaket, it would be as the others have said, it is ten times rarer.

... but completely indistinguishable as far as the coins are concerned.

I don’t support people trying to create an artificial market for coins in order to cash in on unknowing collectors.

There are 110,000 of each of these coins. 100,000 were sold by the US Mint, 10,000 by the Royal Canadian Mint. Any difference is in packaging only and therefore should not create a premium.

But if the coins are slightly different sizes then there IS a difference between the sets. On the US sets the eagle is on one side (probably the left) and on the Canadian sets it is on the other side. If the coins are different sizes then they can't be transposed in the holder.

Yep, sizes are different ASE is 40.6 mm, silver eagle is 38 mm. So the coins can't be swapped in the holders and the sets ARE different.

Of course if you can get the empty Canada set holder and the coins from a US set you can "create" one of the rare Canadian sets.

Are you advocating the value of packaging? The coins are identical. I thought that was what we were collecting. This specific Silver Eagle and this specific Maple Leaf coin, not the shipping containers.

Well, that really was the case why would anyone buy any sort of currency set or mint set? They even upped Proof sets at one time to prestige proof sets. There have been very fancy packaged silver proof sets lately. Or the biggest rip of all the circulating quarters set. Ten circulation grade quarters for ten bucks. Meow has bought most of them, and all it is, is the packaging. Anything for the Cat hoard feels good????????...……………..

ME, advocating the value of the holder?? :D (psst, got a black NGC?)

Yes the coins are identical, but some collectors go crazy over silly little differences. Think about all the premiums people pay for the special labels from the TPG's. I know NGC is putting on the labels which set the coins came from and I would bet the label collectors will be paying a premium for the coins with the "Canadian set" label, and there will probably be people willing to pay a premium for the Canadian sets in OGP over the sets in US OGP. I'm NOT advocating it, I have no interest in the sets. I'm just making an observation based on past behaviour of a lot of collectors.

Oh, then we are in complete agreement I believe, as I know that the label chasing community will pay premiums for them, but they are truly no different than your 2011 circulation strike with a (S) marked on the slab.

I’m trying to point out the madness in this, but it seems that there’s no changing some people’s minds.

I agree that container shouldn't base of price or if Canada only allows 10K sales on their end, which is too bad for them.

Well just like the Silver Proof Eagles for the congratulation set. It is the same coin, but in a different holder and yet it is worth so much cause of the US Mint so call mintage.

Excellent example, exact same coin but "worth" a lot more because of the set it came in that is named on the label, or in the set itself.

    Both Legion sets are fantastic.

What do the grading company’s do with the set packaging and numbered certificates that come with the Canadian sets? If the customer doesn’t want to pay to have it returned do they sell them, throw them out, destroy them. If they sell them that’s just asking for trouble.

I know some of the TPGs won’t accept the Canadian sets unless they’re in the sealed mint shipping box for this exact reason. To stop people from switching the coins into empty packaging. That doesn’t stop the people on eBay from doing it.
