Good place for him. On a federal conviction, a person serves about 80 to 90 percent of his time.

I remember a few years ago when he was first being accused of selling fakes. The reporter reached out and was told "Larry is currently in China looking for dimes". Sure doesn't sound like he was taking the investigation too seriously.

As a Minnesotan, I am glad he got jail, just wishing like others here it was longer. I just hope he has a big, scary cellmate.

Federal is vacation, food is better than county, you get recreation, and more privileged. they changed it since I did time. so its 85%
The Sentencing Reform Act also eliminated parole and required all federal prisoners, regardless of offense type, to serve a minimum of 85 percent of their sentences behind bars before becoming eligible for release—a policy shift known as “truth in sentencing

I was only in for 3 months in county 1990s, but talked to a lot of criminals, who knew a lot, or talked a lot, I did time for to many dwi, and probation violation.
The judge told me I cannot drink alcohol for 2 years, lol, Yea rite. guess I showed him. NOT

I visited a friend at the Oakdale Federal Prison Camp in Louisiana. Trust me. It ain’t a charming place. Minimum security, too.

Like a dog in a cage, you get used to it. don't break the law. lol its certainly not enjoyable. The time I looked forward to is sleeping, because you forget your in jail for a short period of time.

If convicted of a felony, you lose the right to possess a firearm. That would be penalty enough for me, let alone a prison sentence!

Unfortunately these kind of “dealers” gives numismatics a bad name. Hopefully not too many people were ripped off even though one is too many

Since China does little to prosecute these crimes, including counterfeit coins, I doubt things will get better any time soon.

Let me be pessimistic for this. Oh great. Now he's going to jail long enough to have all of his expenses paid for. He'll get free materials and can easily educate himself for how to be better at what he's in jail for. All at taxpayer expense.

Now for the optimism. He may even earn a degree in coins and become an expert or even get hired by a TPG or start his own grading service.

    Just think of the possibilities!

Their government does not see it as crimes, they have no understanding of capitalist intellectual property. and theft through deception I guess is not important if its toward another country. or they understand, and just don't care.

It's been going on for years. They counterfeit anything they can make a buck on.

Since US laws don't apply in China there isn't much they can do to the company. All they can do is go after the people here using. importing, or selling coins in them.
