I’d rather an original design be used as opposed to reusing a previous design. Shows lack of creativity. That being said if the legislation passes I’ll buy one.

This is a dumb idea, but I'm sure people would eat it up.

In all due respect, have you seen a lot of the original designs of late?:vomit:

It will be interesting to see what comes of this. However, I’m sure the Mint would find a way to mess the coins up.

    Another US Mint fabricated collectable.

You realize that the US Mint fabricated all the collectibles, right? ;)

I'd rather see our legislators go home and leave me alone and let me get what I need for myself.

Gotta say I’m a little bemused by this initial onslaught of negativity toward this potential commemorative. I can’t see this as anything other than a no-brainer, shut-up-and-take-my-money type coin. Who’s with me on this?

I want commemorative coins to commemorate significant, important events of nationwide interest. Something like Apollo 11 is a worthy commemorative coin, or the Wright Flyer a few years ago. I don't want "commemorative" coins to just recreate a popular design of the past because it would sell well. Same reason I thought the gold reproductions of the Merc, SLQ, and Walker were dumb.

Since when is the centenary of the switch from Morgan to Peace dollars considered an event worth commemorating? Oh, right, I forgot; this'll let the mint make a boatload of cash from overcharging collectors for nothing more than a "CC" mintmark. Ridiculous, but par for the course for the mint these days.

Personally, I like all aspects of the possible proposed bill. I am still hoping the Mint has a Morgan, Peace, and Silver Eagle in a set for 2021.

I thought it was nonsense to make them in gold, and especially since the half dollar wasn’t even the same size as a half dollar. But the Morgan and Peace Dollars are significant in the world of numismatics. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a significant “human” event that happened, IMO. But I understand where you’re coming from.
