I have a one dollar coin that looks like a morgan silver dollar with the eagle, "in god we trust" inscription and all. but features the same engraving on both sides. There is no liberty head, just two eagles, no mint date or anything else. Please advise.
Never heard of anything quite like it. Can you post a picture of the item? Take Care and Greetings Ben
in most cases Your coin will also "ring" differently than a normal coin of the same denomination. Balance your coin on your fingertip and tap it with a pen, it will sound "dead" or "dull" compared to the nice "ring" of a normal coin.
We need a picture. It's possible that the coin is authentic, but most likely it's not. You could also weight the coin and see if it's consistant with a normal silver dollar.
i have the same coin I just came across it while working at a gas station last night. The edges are smooth. the only writing on it says "United States of America", "In God We Trust" and "One Dollar". There is no year on it. I called the Southern Coin Company and sent these pictures. The guy's opinion was that is a magicians coin or a token. I've compared its size to a quarter... its probably 10th size bigger but smaller than a silver dollar. there go.
