One of my pickups from the Vegas show... what’d PCGS say?

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Based on the unnatural mix of blues and purples, I would have said artificially toned, MS-70'd, with 64 details. But the TPGs have been lenient on these lately.

I have a 1904 with very similar coloration. I've owned it for 30+ years, so I know it's never been messed with. In fact, I've seen a lot of IHCs with toning; I just think it may be a characteristic that's common to that particular issue.

The first picture shows too many marks on the neck and hair to be an MS-65. If that is an MS-65, then the 1864-L Cent I posted earlier in the day is also an MS-65. It is grade MS-64 as it should be.

I have a lot of Indian toners- this one strikes me as an album coin as opposed to the MS70 look personally... it’s crusty and doesn’t have the sheen going on of an MS70’d coin.

...To be honest, I’m a little curious now what it would look like if I crack it out right now and apply MS70. :troll: I suspect it would even out the colors a bit, improve the subdued luster and create a more flashy coin than we currently see.

I have mostly seen MS70 treated coins in pictures, and what I have seen, I have not liked. This coin is maxed out right where it is. If you play with it, don’t be surprised if you end up in a much worse place.

Indeed, there would be no point whatsoever in cracking it beyond morbid curiosity.

Thanks. Yes my health is back to normal. I usually go to that coin show at the Palace Station and the Westgate 1 too. I am usually looking at world coins.
