I don't anything about grading would that just be considered good or perhaps fine?

When I was little I hanged out with too many coin collecters & never thought much of coins in that sort of condition.

Probably Good Details (the acid dating is considered damage)... but it was a dateless buffalo, so what's the downside?

That’s a pretty clean date with sharp edges, considering it was raised from the dead. It still seems to match the overall look of the coin, too.

I thought this treatment often left the surface more gray and dull. This nickel has turned out really well.

That's a great story and a nice find for you. I think you will always enjoy this coin.

thanks all , my mom was with me when I found it , in fact she educated me on the nicodate xx sp, and she's no longer with us so I'll keep it with my set , still need the 38 D over S , well and the 3 leg but I'm not sure if you need that 1 for it to be considered a full set ?

It’s a personal choice certainly, but I consider a set to be complete with one example of each year and mint.

Some people like to add the major varieties. They may seem essential because the old blue Whitman folders included slots for them.

But varieties are a slippery slope. Which varieties are actually major? Do you need 1918/17? How about two feathers? When are you done?

On my set I only tried for one example of each year. And I feel it’s complete. . . . Until I see something shiny . . .

One does not need Mint errors or varieties to have a complete set.

Glad to hear your set is complete. Now just add the errors and varieties that you want at your leisure. They just add to the joy and excitement of the set.
