1968 Lincoln penny rim defect? I am trying to figure out if this is a rim defect. I'm not sure if the planchet was stamped off center? It looks like the rim thins down around the word trust. Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks. FYI it does not look at all like the coin was dented or smashed along that side.
It looks like a normal 68-D. Most coins are not perfect. There are always very slight anomalous or imperfections. It could be a very slight misalignment, it's not significant IMO. Still a nice 68-D with a boatload of luster!

What do you mean by clean? By clean do you mean, problem free? The word clean or cleaned in the same sentence with coin, is a bad thing. Generally speaking, you don't want a cleaned coin. Yes, it has a collecting value....it would look good in your collection. Selling value?....no. Not unless it graded MS69 or 70.
If you plan to stick around and want to learn about errors, try this site: www.error-ref.com. In fair warning, I’ve found maybe 20-30 collectible errors in years of searching tens of thousands of coins (likely hundreds of thousands). Don’t be disappointed when just about every coin you find is not an error. Because most coins are not errors. P.S. “Good condition” in numismatics is actually pretty beat up condition.
Agreed. It is nice, for a 51 year old cent. Unfortunately, this is also true. While it is nice, it is still a common Lincoln Memorial cent, and really isn't worth more than face value (or maybe 5-10 cents at best). But it's nice despite that.
