    I just bought two franklins

one of them is real nice...

but this one I picked up while I was rushing out, I looked at it, but obviously not close enough...

it looks like someone peeled tape off it

Nail polish remover (acetone variety) will fix that fast and not hurt the coin (use Q-tip very lightly).

    Ribbit :)

Do NOT use Nail polish remover. There are other chemicals in remover that can damage your coin. Use 100% acetone and you can purchase it at any hardware store for under $5. Put it in a small glass dish just enough to cover the top. It should remove a majority of the gunk/residue. Then dip it in some distilled water to remove the chemical from the coin and put it on a towel to dry and pat the coin, do not rub. If you can't find distilled water try a good bottle of purified water from the store. Tom

just drop it into a jar with acetone for a few minutes. That tape res will fall off in minutes. and then let it air dry ,, Acetone dry vert fast. Problem solved.

Hey stainless, I wouldn't fret to much over it. Don't mean this as an insult, but looks like it is only worth melt, or a little more. I would just use this as a live and learn lesson, and maybe "experiment" with acetone. But do whatever you wanna do, it's your coin. ;) :thumb:

Probably never. I've been doing this for 48 years stainless, and I still make mistakes.

Just learn from them and you'll be fine ;)

Follow tdec's directions and it'll take the gunk right off. It won't damage or tone the coin.

I agree you might want to use acetone and qtips just to see what happens but as people have already said qtips are bad and i stay away from acetone personally. Patience is the key neve rbe in a hurry to buy as my mentor says all coins are beautiful but look for the one thats gorgeous

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I have heard that the acetone you buy at the hardware store will have other chemicals somewhat like nailpolish remover. I would sugest getting 100% pure acetone at a pharmacy.

    no correction necessary.
Acetone, in the form of nail polish remover is not pure and has other additives.
