A proof war nickel? Dang, that's amazing, I don't think I've ever seen a proof war nickel! Sweet coin!
Just another post that assures the membership here that you know nothing of what you speak! Are you kidding me? A proof Jefferson 42 P upgrade from a 65 to a 67? Is not a flip of a coin......
I have two more raw around here some place but my Pf. 66 I cherry picked it an WDDR-003 The large die gouge [dot ] on Jeffersons collar below his hair line. Check yours there are quite a few varieties known....on the war nickel series.
I actually checked it last night, and didn't see anything other than notched serifs on the first T and the S in TRUST, which seem to be in the master die.
Ok well here's where mine gets interesting the ddr I refered to is actually on a type l not type 2 . The war nickels produced a lot of varieties.the 43 P alone has 72 rpm,rpd .Any way I was waiting for someone to call me on the wddr 003 post because it isn't. As the wddr 003 was on style 1 and this being types 2 can only mean....One of the type 1 obvs. Was used to mint type 2 Jefferson nickel 1942 P proof. I don't know if you call it a mule... but the obv. Is the wddr 003 type 1 with all markings to substantiate the coin. The rev. Type 2 P over dome. I need to send this one in....
My thumbs-up was meant as a compliment to messydesk, not a flip of a coin! I wouldn't have "liked" his thread if I did! Do yourself a big favor troll boy, if you don't like my posts don't comment on them! Just move on to your next newbie victim!
For 42 Proofs type 1 and type 2 but yes correct ......the only proof durring the war years. Mintage 29,600 l & 27,600 type ll .
Here is the 42 two Jefferson proofs variety l & variety 'll both of these are from my raw Jefferson sets. No more proof strikes until 1950....
