1981D Exposed Zinc Plating Test Subjects

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Bobs Tavern Arm, Jul 11, 2019.

  1. WONDER BOY: The definition had to do with someone coming up through shows and numismatic channels with a seeming gusto with a sort of “New Wave” variety of strengths of offerings.

It wouldn’t do well to say how FAR from normal it has been every time indoctrination of fortitudes of developments of recognitions has been in the numismatic world of how someone got to the place to have the choice of judgement ANYWAY climbing up to be able to be administering from platforms of supports surrounding the numismatic world..... they’d be talking about EVERY EFFORT IN NUMISMATIC HISTORY....where do they even get this stuff? What are you talking about ? Are you talking about grading ? From years of experience.

  4. The nice front is the bad reverse, the nice reverse is the bad obverse. Salt spat and scratching was supposed to have been administered to coins before the decision of Zinc coinage. A 1981 New York Times article online talks about the exposing of zinc to test it. There is exposed Zinc on both of these recovered together. 4C45C005-4310-4BDD-AA7C-45BEE3B0A6BD.jpeg 64EA5872-DE9B-47AC-8898-77826CF8B910.jpeg 898B2B2B-AEDB-4277-BAA7-09A2FCA9020C.jpeg 764E669B-8330-415B-8613-D5F2CC585373.jpeg EA1EA8D3-E530-4F0C-8725-0E8581051842.jpeg

It is that Robert Lahti dude. Same blank stare.

The writing style was exactly the same.

Mods, what happened to his original account?

So the damage to these coins is actually testing done by the mint? Is that what you're getting at? Are you stating that these are zinc coins? putting them on a scale to determine their weights will give you your answer regarding the metallic composition.

That is precisely who this guy is, I searched that name on FB, his page is a treasure trove inspirational nonsensical run on sentences. A master of the art of gibberish and grammatical error.

Why did you change the title of your thread?

  11. I don’t know.... but in searching to find similarities to what they were, the salt spray seems to be apparent, on the sides the Zinc is exposed. I wouldn’t think it was nice coins with an improper mixture, when both have the same side plating (It must be plating if they knew they could aim effectively at two planchets and uncover Zinc, then) corrosion against Zinc.... that seems an unlikely 100% timely coincidence. I don’t believe coincidences that perfect happen when there is a situation in Zinc strength testing that is going to also look 100% like the same thing.

Can you direct us to an example of the salt spray to compare your coins to? What do your coins weigh?

  13. Well whatever overhaul or cleaning or next editions they put out seems to have stricken that record.

  14. Both 3.1 “Zinc Penny Ruling Expected Soon” is the name of the online article by The New York Times in 1981.

  19. You know, I like Pete’s house. I try to a keep a good attitude and mature focus. I really don’t know why people here think they run things like it’s their own house.... without bringing anything but some played out recognizable graded manipulations as an anchor. You can tell that’s true because they hiss when actual recoveries (“The Old Style” of numismatics) is shown that perseverance has strength unlike what people here need to be seen so they can keep passing they’re stories off of their usefulness. I’m sure Pete had a different idea of the success he would have from this site. I’m glad at least Fred and Mike are here..... FOR PETES SAKE!!

How does one reach this superior level of hunting errors and varieties? It seems you've obtained (and created) all the numismatic information in the known universe, I guess it's time to move on, maybe you can finally pursue that career in hip hop. Best of luck and remember us little people in your journeys. Goober.

Yes, this is Peter's site and we are all his guest.
I'm sure that Peter is happy that members try to correct those that come here posting false information. Folks come to this site to learn the truth. False information is not helpful.
