Went to the show this morning at 9, same usual crowd. I see alot of the same folks at the coin club shows and meetings. Best thing about the Scottsdale show, it's in an Elks club and they have a kitchen. I always get a big homecooked style breakfast and load up first thing, 2 eggs, hashbrowns, bacon , sausage and toast with coffee. Then on to the hunt..... I only picked up 4 coins today, an XF 31-S, a F/VF 09-S, a super nice AU-BN 16-S, and a VF 13-S that I "cherry picked" in an old folder still marked with 2005 pricing, yee haw. The days of the dealers only having a few slabs are turning into the days of the dealers with nothing but slabs......One fellow had nothing but NNC and PCI slabs, ouch. Signed up to have my own table from now on, it's $45 for a good aisle table in the main room ( they have 2 rooms), 2nd Sunday of the month, ever month. So now, the next purchases will be 3 allstate cases and some lighting..... Step by step, wean from Ebay, crawl before you walk you know?
Were you able to get any pictures? If so I'd love to see them... There was a gentleman who I knew (thru my father) who retired in Scottsdale, AZ some years ago. Unfortunately, he passed away recently, but remained close friends with my dad to the end. We (little Brother and I) atended his funeral. His name was Joe Foss, a WWII MOH winner and USMC aviator from South Dakota. If I'm not mistaken his wife still lives there. Take Care Ben
Thanks, this is what I am describing in your thread about the hypothetical deals.....when you search and find goodies, you'll always be there to buy them back when your customers wish to sell, you just hope they come back to you !! No Mag, no membership required...just go !
