1999 D nickel double?

  1. so I know there’s a lot of errors with doubling on the 1999D so this is doubling right? The ear on front and on the obverse side looks like the whole print is going side ways doubling at the top windows letters through the coin? In the N in United throught the windows

    Hi Jessica. I want to try to help a little. I hope you don't get mad..

    Doubled Die issues are known as varieties. There is a difference between a Die Variety and a Mint Error.

    There is an issue called DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling and MD - Machine or Mechanical Doubling which are considered worthless doubling and nothing to do with a true Doubled Die variety. Here is some information on that - http://doubleddie.com/144801.html

    And lastly.. coins are struck/minted not printed. Paper currency is printed.
