I have looked through a large handful of the rolls and they all match the dates written on them. I also looked for the 1939DDR in one roll with no luck. At this point in time I probably will just keep the coins for a rainy day to look for varieties since I know what the years are for the coins in every roll.
When looking through my old rolls of Jeff's I found interesting things that are not cataloged varieties. I is fun to just look for variations.
I did not notice any that said unc. I will have to go back and look through them when I have the time.
Its not a worry. I have let some rolls sit sometimes for years. I still have some from the last time I was in Tennessee. 2015
Probably intended for circulation finds for novice collectors...doubt if any have any value over face.
That's what I like about these; they're easily identified, scarce enough to be challenging, and common enough they can actually be found. I've found two of these, three of the '42-D/D, and about 5 of the '43 overdate. I've looked at a very large number of the '43's to find those 5 though.
Don't the Jefferson 38-Ds still have a little premium? I used to save them back in my roll hunting days in the late 1950s. If memory serves, I saved 38-D & S, 39-D & S, war nicks if AU or better, 49-S, 50-P & D, 51-S, and 55-P. One summer I was finding a 39-D and 50-D a day and advertised to sell them in Coin World. Ah, the memories.
