LOL...yeah I'm sure they would rather be screwed by some fat, hairy and sweaty guy than by the U.S. Mint.
Reports over on CU saying some sets that were backordered for August 6th shipped today, very interesting.
I certainly believe they do at least on popular sell out items. When the baseball commemoratives came out I had so many returns from horrendous quality that I have a hard time believing I wasn't getting shipped returns
WOW Really? All I can say to that is, I know you are, but what am I? So, if I start my auction at $0.99 and they bid the price up, I'm screwing them?
I've ordered lots of coins from the Mint and got them within a week or two after release, NO time for returns. More than a few have been horrendous. So, since I can't blame the horrendous quality on returns I guess the Mint had bad coins to begin with. I'm not saying they don't sell returns but not all bad coins come from returns.
I'm looking at a pic of the actual SAE on eBay and WOW, I think this is going to be my favorite one. Before this one, my favorite was the 2013 enhanced unc, but this one may move into 1st place and at a much lower mintage. After the dust settles from the mint fiasco, this one may be a big winner, it is probably a big mistake offing them on eBay now for close to issue price in ogp.
I have too, but in the baseball commemorative case the ones that really made me suspect it were months later and the really delayed shipping at the very end. My first order which came at the start was a much higher quality
True, but, they're much worse when it's sold out items ordered toward the end of sales or after sales first ended.
Yep, the currently unavailable status means they're sold out, but, as soon as we get some problem returns, they'll be available for a few seconds.
I ordered 1 set. Already shipped and expected to arrive Tuesday. I debated on this one, but now glad I ordered one early.
Paid almost the same price for the 2012 and the 2013 sets and if memory serves they had twice the mintage. So I bit. Hope they clime like the 1995-w but that's wishful thinking. I some what agree about the monopoly but there are a lot of non gov mints producing some high quality rounds. I love my ASES.
QUESTION: Would you open a first strike set or wait and send it in for grading. The temptation to open it is eating at me. Want to see the enhanced revers
I opened mine, 4 beauties (maybe 70's) and 1 69. In the end, all these labels will mean nothing. At the shop we pay nothing, nada, zero premium for any label.
Check my post for close ups of the new Ase, And the Canadian maple leaf. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ups-man-brings-gift-from-us-mint.342335/
I cannot imagine why anyone would not want to open and enjoy their coins. That is the very essence of what makes all this "first strike" slabbing nonsense more of a farce. Open the box and enjoy the coins! Set them free! I opened mine just minutes ago. They are lovely.
