I read something recently about one person who was "scammed" by a member here. I think it was via a sale on Ebay. Some things seemed odd about the joking, nearly mocking, posts that followed. I think there could be a "network" of several, or one person with many aliases trying to scam others. These people want to monopolize this site and ridicule any opposition. Regardless, be cautious if given advice on buying from this or any online sites. Some people will work extremely hard to develop a trusted persona....
I've never had a problem dealing with members here, on this forum, but all the folks that I've dealt with have been trusted friends for many years. My advice to anyone here that wants to deal with the buy/sell area is to 'know' your seller/buyer. Otherwise you could possibly get shagged.........
You would be better off sticking to your other avatar to sell this paradigm to others under this member as specializing in this genre.. I do have some faith in you..
So, again: If this site is full of "scammers"... If this site is full of people who stubbornly refuse to recognize your beaten and worn coins as valuable errors... WHY ARE YOU HERE?
There are almost 54,000 members, and I would guess maybe average of one a year is a real scammer and gets away with it, a few more are sure they didn't get the real deal agreed , or a different coin, etc. and several more who try , but leave before damage is done. Probably less scammers than in a fund raiser. Jim
I sent one member some old Canadian coins. On the honor system. He sent me much more than we had agreed upon, so I sent him some very nice old Buffaloes to make up the difference and insisted he not send any more $. 2 other members I sent items at no charge. Although one had a higher shipping cost on my end than I had anticipated. One member I sent something no charge, but it didn't turn out to be the variety we both hoped. Another member I thought was interested in something, but it seems he felt I was trying to cheat him out of a dollar, so that transaction never happened.
This echoes of the deals I have done here. Last fellow I traded with threw four commemorative halves in the envelope for me. Regardless what somebody may be attempting to stir up here.... The folks on this forum are first class with their dealings.
I am a member of five or six different coin sites, and this is absolutely my favorite. The knowledge level, the willingness to respond, and the variety can't be beat. I've had many transactions, mostly buying, and have had no issues whatsoever. Being on the West Coast I have had to make arrangements with a couple of East Coasters to get the current releases of US coins every year. I mail them to them, they mail them to me, no issues with postage. I could do without the "Is this a double die, doubled die, double dye, doubled dye?" questions, as well as the "Is this worth anything?" every other post, but otherwise, this site is my go-to.
Jim, the OP is full of it. He is one of those that I mentioned in another thread who only likes to stir up trouble and does absolutely nothing to benefit this site. edited Chris
Only problem I ever had was someone who on my free but you pay the postage pcgs boxes never paid anything
