Hello, I was coin roll hunting and stumbled upon this coin. Its missing parts of Lincon's body and part of the lettering. It has no mint mark either. I thought maybe someone damaged it but its perfectly smooth and no other marks on the rim. I am new to this. I would appreciate any help
Hi Welcome to ct! Imho, it looks like a struck through grease error. https://www.error-ref.com/struck-through-smooth-viscous-material-grease-oil/
What does the rim look like in the affected area? Kinda looks like a collar issue. Is it me or does the coin look a little oblong? Especially under the bust.
No mint mark means it was struck at the Philadelphia Mint. They didn't use a mint mark until 2017 and only for that year. The rest is a Worn die strike..
It may be weak metal flow in the bust and STATES OF area on the reverse. May be a rolled thin planchet or tapered planchet. Weight would help us out and also thickness at 4 places around the circumference.
