A 1" binder really doesn't hold many pages once you add the coins in flips.

I bought some 1/2 inch binders for the sets I am making for the grand kids. But, they will only have 3 pages each. Chris is very accurate regarding how many pages they hold after you add to coins.

The sizes start @ 1", but actually go to 5" wide, in about 1" increments.

    Thanks for the tip Jim!

They are pretty neat. I might get a couple for my own stuff and try them out.

I've tried many of the different binders up to 6" using 20-pocket & 12-pocket vinyl pages as well as Eagle pages and I found that the larger sizes can't withstand the weight of that many coins. I found that I had to compromise and resort to "zippered portfolios". Yes, they are more expensive, but they don't wear out and can hold all of the pages in place when you close the portfolio with the zipper. I've been using the same zippered portfolios for 15 years now.

Where do you get your "zippered portfolios"?

What brand are you using, Chris?

I thought in previous discussions we determined that PVC is only risky if it's in direct contact with a coin, and that a PVC notebook housing coins in PVC-free pages should be fine?

There is a drop down for other sizes including 4" and 5" binders too.

You would think the mylar window would protect them.

It has been many years since I had to buy one. I have more than a dozen. You might try searching Samsill or Cambridge zippered portfolios for options or try the Mead Corporation.

I would think reasonable proximity to PVC would pose a risk. Anybody have anything definitive on this?

ive been collecting for 8 yrs, and my mylar cardboard holders are safe in my pvc pages, binders. i re-organize, re-holder sometimes and never detected damage (ie blue color on a q-tip with acetone etc)
