The large majority of Bust halves were cleaned. They got popular during the era of coin cleaning being thought as acceptable. Thus, you get many “white looking” Bust halves, with no original surfaces, wrong color, and damaged artifacts. Probably 90% of the Bust halves on Fleabay have been cleaned, even the certified ones. Tons of details coins for sale there.
You are a much more experienced collector than me and I have seen many good things that you have said, but... You must realize that your definitions might not have much relevance for many people. Cleaning (as a generic term) could involve anything from giving a coin a distilled water rinse to using a belt sander. Doug's use of cleaning and harsh cleaning (or whatever) seems better to me.
I'd need to see a better picture, but from what I see, it doesn't look too bad. It is way better than many scrubbed Busties and other coins of that vintage. It could be market acceptable. A better set of pictures would be useful.
this coin is controlled by the 3 p's theory PRICE PRICE PRICE " if any of those factors come into play and you can get the coin for lets say 30% of greysheet I would knock it out and send it in for grading by a t3g a coin of that detail and age has got to fetch a decent price with the proper pedigeree
Just throwing it out there. I have bought NNC slabbed Morgan's and others not all are problem coins. I have cracked a few of them. One is a 83O 63PL. They hit it right on the money. And maybe low. Just saying Of course these coins were all bought in hand.
Seems like the OP is struggling with some memory issues. This coin has been posted, confirmed clean by quite a few knowledgeable members and even a value was given. Of course, @Colby Abele you're still not sure huh? https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1817-au-capped-bust-half-dollar-is-it-real.338824/
hey buddy calm down. Before i spend my money to get it graded, i need to have multiple answers from many people. Be weird to some other post.
Post it as many times as you want. Your coin has been cleaned and multiple people have confirmed that. Don’t waste your money trying to get it graded. You don’t like our answers, feel free to waste your money and send it in.
Your money would be better spent seeking professional help for a habitual liar. You trolls need to realize that you aren't playing with uneducated, misinformed, stupid people here on CT. We will, and you have been exposed as to exactly what you are! A habitual liar.
He’s like 10, despite what his profile says. Go easy on him. He already lost out by overpaying for the coin...
Based on the photos it looks like a seriously nice coin. I’m not seeing any hairlines so it may pass at PCGS or NGC. Since it is white it is almost certainly dipped, but “cleaned” and “improperly cleaned” are two different things. It needs to come out of the basement slab into something presentable. Right now it reminds me of fine wine stored in a cheap bottle with a screw on cap.
