Is this a die crack or strike through ? I can't tell the difference.

It goes from rim to rim and seemed to bubble up along some portions of the line

Without seeing the entire coin, it looks more like a scratch from something that came in contact to the coin AFTER being minted.

    Isn't a strike through concave?

It definitely isn't from something coming in contact with it after leaving the mint.

Welcome to Coin Talk. It would be more helpful if you would post a clear photo of the entire coin. Judging by your newest photos, IMO it's not a strike through nor a die crack. Looking at pics 3 through 7 the raised metal makes it look more like a deep scratch. See how it runs through the bottom of the letter A. As @furryfrog02 said, that would happen only after it was minted. As always, wait for more opinions.

With a die cracks die fills and seals the crack. As you can see in this coin, the die couldn't fill-in the area. It was pushed to the sides by whatever object forms this line. This site was recommended, it's not for me. Seems to be filled with undercover haters, "Armchair Know It All's " who in their narcissistic frenzies forget to use common sense.

Armchair know it alls LOL. Dear Barbara this website has some of the leading numismatic experts in the world. I by far am not one of them but I can tell it's a scratch. Why say you can't tell the difference in your title and then call people haters when they tell you it's a scratch? :banghead:

You've probably left Coin Talk but in case you're still around read the following: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_defect If it was a die crack the line would be raised. Your coin shows displaced metal on both sides of the scratch.

Agree. The raised areas on the coin looks like displaced metal from a sharp scratch. The concave areas in the rim as well as the appearance of the scratch don't look like a typical die crack IMO

It’s a great big, deep scratch. Sometimes these marks are deceptive because they appear to be raised, like a die break. The reason they appear to be raised is that the metal is pushed up from the surface. Think of it as something like a ditch. When you dig it, the dirt gets piled up on the side.

Sooooo let me get this straight. Something scratched this coin leaving bubbling and bulging ( which would occur while metal is still in a pliable stage ), not jagard metal along it's path. Lol ! This site may have experts but for the others, the ASSumers, Stay In Your Lane.
