I will say regardless if it is a quarter or half dollar it has led a very hard life. It is to that end if it were my coin I'd say it would be time to say goodbye and send it off to a literal melting pot somewhere.
Yep it is a quarter, no question. I called it a quarter in another thread that only showed the obv, now that the reverse is shown it is definitely a quarter. Look at the arrows in the eagles claw, on the half the longest one in the center of the group extends to below the I in AMERICA. On the quarter it ends below the C. On this one it ends below the C.
Ok so I have good and bad news for ya. Heres some history: The coin you have is called a Barber quarter because it was designed by Charles E. Barber. The coin started production in 1892 and the series ended in 1916. The coin you have is around AG or G. The grading (Condition) scale goes up to 70. Yours is around a 3 or 4. (AG means About Good and G means Good). The coin is made from 90% silver and 10% copper and unknown alloys like zinc and tin. The coin that you currently own is a 1902 ?. I cannot see the mint in which it was made. But regarding a 1902 plain barber quarter, it will retail at around $8.00 on eBay. At a local coin shop, you will get half of that. The thing is if you're looking for a quick buck, then go ahead and sell it. If I were you, I would give it to my kids or grandkids.
