I would call it AU were it not for the nicks etc. As it is, AF-45.

    My 1909VDB - grade?

Hope it's ok to reuse this thread instead of making a new one. If not, I'll post a new thread. What do you think the grade on this '09VDB would be if I was to submit it to PCGS? There is a little bit of crud on the 'C' of Cent, but all the other little white specks, etc are from the plastic of the 2x2. It has good luster and a nice solid red color (nicer than seen in the scan) with excellent details. AU-50/5? Should I bother submitting this one if I want to sell it?

    Thanks!

I don't think that certifying the coin will make enough of a difference in sale price to merit the cost of submission. That said, I'd say XF, not AU.

I might go as high as AU after seeing the last picks.

What does 'VDB' stand for? I was just talking about this penny with a guy at work today.

Those are the initials of Victor David Brenner who designed the Lincoln bust on the obverse.

Nice coin, unfortunatly I don't think it would be worth it for you to send it in to PCGS. I'm not entirely sure they would grade it, that crud on the back looks like corrosion of some sort. :(

Coin #2 easily has AU+ details, but the color is off, might just be the lighting, it appears a bit dull...

It would cost more to slab than it is worth, the return postage alone is going to be north of $15....
