Pcgs black boxes by trogdor posted Jun 25, 2019 at 7:43 PM Brand new, I like them. Kind of classy. So... Who needs to replace all their blue with black now?
Green? I've never scene that color from PCGS either! I have a couple of blue ones, nothing that I've received from them. How many coins do you have to send in to them to receive them back in a plastic box like that?
I don't know that they have a minimum number. I've received boxes with as few as 1 coin, though it was a key coin.
Green is the vintage color (think the larger old green holder era) , blue has been standard for what seems like forever, probably in line with the blue label holders. They recently starting using green again to get rid of old stock. Black is reportedly going to be the new standard box color; maybe that means a new black label will be coming?? Obviously none of this really matters, but the obsessive among us do notice such changes.
I'm not telling my coins about the new black boxes. They seem happy in the blue ones. I can hear them now....why can't we get a black box, all the other coins are getting them. Its nothing worse than hearing coins whine.
Now I need a black one. Another one I want is one of the transparent smoke gray ones they used internally for transporting them. I've seen one but I don't have one.
I thought the smoky transparent gray was an NGC variation. I don't know about what you are referring to...and I'm intrigued.
While they're all the same, I do like the different colors from an organizational standpoint. Yes you can label the boxes, but when you can color code too it's nice. I like the black look too, the blue is nice too but a chance every now and then is nice
I keep all my Christmas themed coins in one of those red NGC boxes. Those are sharp too. I’ll definitely get these new black boxes. They do look classy. I still need to get a green box too. I like the different colors.
I have blue and green PCGS boxes. I have not seen black boxes, and I have never seen red NGC boxes. Time was I used NGC boxes because the worked better. The new PCGS slabs are too thick to go in them unless you put them in caddy cornered so I am using PCGS boxes more and more. PCGS boxes are shorter than NGC boxes, which makes better for safe deposit box storage.
yes NGC did have a transparent smoke gray box for awhile and some coins were shipped out in those boxes. But PCGS had one as well, but those boxes were only used within the company and as far as I know no coins were ever shipped out in their smoke gray boxes.
