When I got this quite a while ago I think the seller thought it was an impaired proof. I got it for $6. Now looking at it not sure if it is a proof as no trace of mirrors. Awesome luster on the reverse. Is there a way to tell the diff btwn circulation and proof strikes?
This coin has a bunch of reed marks which almost never occur on proofs. In addition, the bell lines are incomplete which also indicates business strike.
Definitely has some hits now that I am looking at it a little more closely. It amazes me how you can evaluate a coin and be spot on so quickly! It takes me some time and in some cases only after I take pictures do I see things. Well I guess it takes time and lots of coins to get to where you guys are at!
Seems like a decent strike....Pass and Stow is legible and in hand the lines of the Eagle's feathers are complete. Edit: and the hair in front of the ear has the 3 "prongs"
I think a characteristic of proof coins is a 90 degree edge with no bevel to it as is found in business strikes.
