Here are a couple of notes that I acquired rather cheaply. I picked up 13 older Canadian Tire Money notes for less that $5. Not in too good of shape but at least a start. I had to do some digging to find the Pick or catalog numbers for them and learned some interesting information on them. cool notes!! so are they in fact legalized currency? or more so a sort of coupon for a local tire shop?
If you search google you will find some information on the notes. They are offered as "certificates" that you can use to purchase stuff in Canadian Tire stores. But from what I found when looking for these -- this looks like it is a second Canadian currency. One article that I read what that a liquor store was accepting up to $50 in Canadian Tire Money for purchases at the liquor store. Another article states that it is usuable in other places as well. I got the 13 notes and at first pass I thought I had duplicates. But when I finally found a site that had the series and descriptions, I found that I had alot more than what I thought, with only 1 or 2 duplicates.
