John you're stressing to much.....you could stroke out.....so young too....you should send it to me.......I'm closer to the light , than you ....no need to work yourself into a tizzy......remember out of sight out of mind.........you have my addy on file.....
I understand the blast white theory perfectly, as that is how coins leave the Mint, but your coin is exactly what I imagine a 200 year old coin to look like. That coin will sell quick. If it hasn’t sold yet, it’s because you haven’t listed it.
Maybe. I haven't listed it. Yeah it will sell... but not for much as it is (I'm guessing). Retail value is $5000 for this variety. Market value is probably $3250. But I suspect if I auctioned it off it may only fetch $2250. Less than half retail, all because of the toning. I'm just guessing, though.
Ok, I’m tracking now. With no sentimental factor involved, I’ll take her blast white any day. I love originality but when it kills the eye appeal it ceases being cool IMO. A lot of CAC stuff, tab toning, etc. crosses that line to me too though but some people love it so hopefully you’ll do all right.
I would probably dip it, but heavily dilute the jeweluster so the coin retained 90% of the toning. Just lighten it a tad.
I was thinking the exact same thing but if those really dark spots don’t come off then you lose the ultra original factor going for it and still have a spotty coin. I dipped the living noodles out of an AU Seated Quarter with spotted toning like that and they hung on long after the luster had been killed. It was already a problem coin for another reason but I didn’t help matters....
Don’t do it John! Someone will buy it for the holder or variety regardless. Just this fools opinion, of course.
C'mon John.......it really ain't blast white. If I had to choose......... I'd advance on the toneless, white bread, lacking interest, example. On the other hand, the ugly color regarding the tonner would generate interest in me but if the two were laying side by side in a dealers case, I'd ask the price for each............and buy the cheaper one, which is, no doubt , the colorless one. And it's late, and I'm obviously over my limit of consumption dear fellows.......on the morrow.
