Metal Detecting - 1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar!

I have a South American coin that NGC returned to me and suggested I send it in for conservation. I might do it together with this IHC.

 

I found this copper or brass item with my detecting finds. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I'm thinking a walking cane top?

 

And “Hand of...” a number of options.

I have a freind who is part of my Metal Detecting club who also found a Silver Half Dollar about a month ago. Same year!
