My uncut sheet of four $5's showed up today :hail:. My son asked why I spent $37 for $20 in notes - lol - some things are hard to explain! The S/N's run 99760242, 9977, 9978, 9979 - so nothing too special there. Was hoping for 00000656, 657, 658, 659 but ended up on the wrong end of the run. LOL _ Will post pictures tomorrow. Best Regards ~ Darryl
I ordered mine within 5 minutes of opening sales. As far as the numbers go I have a feeling they will all be high numbers. Hope you both get some good ones. If you get 656 though - don't let me know - it will drive me crazy to know who has them if it's not me - lol - ...
Okay, What's a SA? - and I am hoping you did not spend a note that had a low serial number 656? I do collect these BTW ... I'll post my latest note later this week when it gets here. Best Regards Darryl
Am pretty sure it's usually the really high numbers reserved for uncut sheets, as they take care of the actual circulating production demand before they start to set aside some to be sold as souvineers. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that, but it's been my observation so far that most uncut sheets tend to have very high serial numbers.)
You are correct Trodon! Usually (most cases) they are very high SN's. In some cases the lower number notes have been used as well. I received a sheet of 20's that have 00000xxx from series 2004...lucky I suppose! RickieB
Sheets of star notes often have low-ish numbers, because they usually represent leftovers from the star runs printed for circulation. Sheets of non-star notes are normally printed especially for collector sales, and are given very high serial numbers that won't conflict with the ranges printed for circulation. The BEP reported the ranges of serials printed for the first few series after they started marketing uncut sheets in 1981. But once you get out of the '80s, the only way to know exactly what's been printed is to look at lots of sheets. If anyone's interested, here's the data I've collected so far--and I'd very much appreciate hearing about any sheets you've got that don't fit into the serial ranges listed. (And that reminds me, I have to add these Kodachrome $5 sheets to the list still....)
