I love your Canadian Dollar. I have a lot of cents, a couple 5 cents, 1 ten cents, and one quarter. Any idea how to get more Canadian coins?
I just bought 5 or 6 more from ebay sellers in Netherlands. Most are UNC and really pretty, plus the price was good. I will PM you.
You know, I was just on eBay watching some of those Finland 10 Markkaa coins. They went too high so I didn't get any more (I already have several), but I did get a 1971 Panama Balboa, and a 1962 Sweden 5 Kronor. The 5 Kronor is pretty cool. I had never seen it before. On the reverse it has a standing Athena holding a shield and an owl ! Credit the Ancient guys and their excitement about owls to get me infected with that " large-eyed bird disease ". lol
Had me going for a minute with that odd looking reverse. I have an 1834 with a similar obverse. Then I figured it out, mutilated or love token type coin.
The royal effigy used on some modern Dutch coins I like; others I am not so fond of. Beatrix's portrait designed like a fingerprint is a nice idea but a little, hmm, too cherché. The four portraits on the other side (Beatrix on the left, Juliana at the top, Wilhelmina at the bottom, and Emma on the right) remind me of king Willem-Alexander's portrait on current coins. Interesting effect, and it works for well known people ... Side note: The word "Vorstinnen" hints at a subtle difference between Emma and the other three. Queen Emma was not head of state but, in the 1890s, regent while her husband had died and her daughter Wilhelmina was not old enough to be queen. Christian
I must agree with you, some of the modern, computer generated coin designs are just too modern for my taste. I suspect you know more about the coins of the Netherlands than do I.
