Was it minted in Denver or Philly? o_O
(That's a clue to the valuable one that only 2 have ever been discovered)

    OP coin is from Philly.
The 1982 small date copper that you want is from Denver.
The reason is Denver only made 1982 small dates on the new zinc planchets.
So far 2 1982-D SD/coppers have been discovered.

Well I guess so as it's worth a cent. If you don't find one than you're short one cent. :)

The Denver Cent is the one worth thousands. Only 2 have ever been found and attributed. Sorry.

Actually the small date Philly zinc is a little higher valued than the copper
(in mint state). Since your coin is not that high a grade, it's worth a penny.
They had trouble with the new zinc as they were not used to working with it and as a result a lot of the coins never made it out of the mint trash.
