Arrived today. Added to my NGC registry set of war nickels. https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive-sets/218334/
This 1951 D yeah soft strike on worn dies from the seller Image looked possible FS.....it doesn't look to have made it in hand, however nice orginal skin with some promising colors begining to bloom.
Hard to see in my sorry pictures but there is a nice pinkish hue to this coin especially noticible on the reverse. A small die scratch from the dome on the reverse up through the S to the rim. Also a retained lamination by the E in EPU and a retained lamination to the left of Monticello. A few things to check out on this one!
Picture with my phone's camera is better to show the die crack than may digital camera! Also lamination to the right and above the corner of Montecello. Die scratch on reverse from right edge of building to rim as well.
My brother has a machine and it seems like the only thing it finds is nickels. I have a Fisher, and rarely ever find a Nickel. Cool find.
New acquisition. I have been hankering after a coin with a beaver on it. This Tombac composition, 12-sided, lustrous nice coin fills the bill. I could not see the fingerprint in the eBay photos, but I'll rinse it to see if anything happens. Shame it was graded, but I suppose if I ever need to I can get it graded again. Up until a moment ago it was MS64 in an ICCS sealed coin flip.
So these are kind of difficult to see through mint packaging and the P has less damage and 6 FS and the D has 5FS and some hits in Jefferson's hair. These are in the 1987 mint set that I paid less than face value for! Yep less than 5 cents each!
Picked this off eBay from some bad photos. I thought it may have been a full stepper. Not close enough for this date. Full steps is too common.
I know the OGP is distracting but this 60 proof has a cool combination of blue and gold toning on the obverse.
