Today I got one of the best coins in my collection. This coin feels great in hand . It is heavy 27 gram silver coin with iconic image of great Persian king Darius on a chariot. It shows the Egyptian ruler walking behind (A great propaganda of the day on the coin). What I also love about this coin is detail of his hand raised commanding or saluting the crowd.

What a wonderful coin! This is after the fall of Assyria, an empire that lasted three times as long as the Roman Empire.

Erhan, Great score :D! That's a hefty chunk of silver, almost a troy ounce :jawdrop:. The coin must have been a presentation piece.

Thanks guys . Happy you liked it.

@TIF No worries I am sure you will get one soon. These come up in auctions recently . I saw one in Kunker and Heritage a month back or so and they were way better than this one condition wise but they went up so high so I did not bid . The reason I chose this though was that it has a provenance going back to before world war one.

Super coin @Erhan ! Really like that one.

Here is a polar-opposite denomination and size coin of an Achaemenid...
