Speaking in regards to Morgan dollars and Peace dollars, what number, what amount of pieces would you consider to be a hoard? I realize this would be subjective and I would like to know opinions. If you came across a collection with a number of peace and morgan dollars, how many would the collection need to be considered a hoard?

When I think about a hoard, I think in terms of those piled up by Redfield and Binion.

Subjective is right! I first think of zombies and the program Hoarders when hoard is used. I had to Google the definition just to see what was said to try and pinpoint an opinion.

    I can’t give a number.

If one filled their pockets with Morgans and Peaces and their pockets tore loose or the person was unable to move... yeah I guess hoard would be apropos.

Maybe just the indiscriminate collecting of them, despite the collection being vast or wee and regardless of condition could fall into the category as well.

When the "subjective" number of what ever it is becomes unruly or uncontrollable...maybe?

I would probably subjectively say that it’s a silver dollar hoard when I can’t move it all at once without assistance.

I think of a hoard of silver dollars when you open a big pirates chest and they start spilling out of it! So maybe a couple thousand in airtites??

Another dozen 1913 Liberty Head nickels showing up could be called a hoard when there are only five known to exist.

This is what I consider a true hoard. I’m looking into buying this one.

    Maybe:

Hoard — A large pile of money assembled in the hope that the Internal Revenue Service won’t find it.

When you have to use a wheelbarrow to move it, that's a hoard.

Hoard: when you have to keep running with it or else it will tip over

Here in Calif. a super lucky couple found a hoard of American gold coins in what looked like old paint cans buried on their property. I think it might have been two cans and that was a wonderful hoard.

I think I am shy of a couple hundred. Mostly cull dollars I bought to pass on to the kids and I am far from a hoard..... My wife’s shoe closet however......

I guess it really is subjective. I was just thinking of it the other day and thought, why not see what everyone else thinks! Thanks.
