Stopped at a local bank today to pick up a few rolls. Got my customary $10 in nickels and decided to get $5 in cents. Nothing that great in the nickels but the cents were a little different than normal. All wrappers were new and the same design (not bank rolled). Dumped out the first roll and the first thing I noticed is the first 6 or 7 cents I looked at were between 1960 and 1970 and some were a nice red color. As I flipped more over I realized that about 45 of them fit this same group. Opened another and the same thing, and another, and another... All ten were pretty much the same except one roll that was about 50/50 new/old. I will really go through them under a loupe tomorrow for varieties. So I cashed in the nickels and the person gave me a 1963B Barr note for change. (L20834157G). All unique numbers but the note looks like it was used for oragami with all of the folds. Paper is in decent condition and the note looks good. I was just happy to get a decent Barr note for face value. My digital died in Cabo so sorry no pics. Have a goal - buy a new camera before any new large coin/note buys!
Thanks Phoenix21 - have a few minutes so I just started looking at a few and a 68 looks like doubling on "pluribus" and the 8 is real funky. They are in such great condition it should be fun! I have this 70D sitting next to a 2007 and you couldn't tell which is which without looking at the date!
Thanks - - Not that it even comes close to what RickieB is offering the winner - and the information learned is worth more than the prize!!! but today I feel like I won my own prize! The amazing thing about the note is the S/N - that green ink is so crisp it looks great even with the wear/folds!
