Hello, I have started metal detecting again, so I figured I need a forum to learn from, but today's find wasn't in the dirt, it was a gift from my local Taco Bell. It is a 1969D clad Roosevelt dime, which caught my eye because it was in better condition than the modern change surrounding it. It has a slight offset to the head, but what puzzles me is the soft wear on the tail side; wear so soft that I thought I was looking at silver for a moment. Any info you can provide?
Welcome to Coin Talk. Nice coin in uncircuated condition. The reverse look to be a struck through debris, which caused weak spots. It also looks to be fresh out of storage.
You also have a obverse with a misalignment (misaligned die). It does not add any value. Also yes to struck through grease or other debris on the reverse. A worn die will give the "orange peel" effect you are seeing in the fields.
Struck by a worn die. Also the obverse is a MAD, misaligned Die. No extra value as it's common. Also probably a lack of circulation. Welcome to CT.
