Hey you guys I miss you its been awhile. Anyhoot my new goal is to be correct about every coin I post meaning whether its a true doubled die, a particular error coin and so forth. So, with that being said I do declare this coin to be the one but not only 1960 large over small date. Did I win???
There are no 1960D Large date over small. . All large /small 1960 were Philadelphia proofs' To be honest, even clicked larger I had a difficult time with the 196 part visually of your coin, but the 0 gives me the answer, as in either case lg/sm or sm/large dates the inside of the 0 will always have a smaller center hole than the large as you can see in the coin below, the red line is the outline of the small date and the blue is the large date, and yours is just large date 1960-D coin. Out of the large date and small date ones, which one is the more valuable one? And are they difficult to find?
Again I really appreciate your input, I have learned so much from a number of you its incredible. Now taking your comment into consideration you are more than likely right. But I think we can both agree that perhaps maybe not the small over large or large over small however it goes, but most definitely one of the million RPM's that our lovely 1960's series bring. Now, which one is probably the better question. Here is why I thought perhaps it could have been the sm/lg. Take a closer look if you dont mind. Some up close screen shots and different pictures.
The shot of the zero looks more circular to me. I use a large monitor so I don't have to use glasses and a small ruler on the screen seems to measure close values vertically as well as horizontally, I do not see any deviation from a large date zero. As to the area above the visible D you point at, I am sorry, but I see no indication of any other mintmark. Jim
Small Dates are scarcer and more valuable in the Philly issue. Denver pieces have no big premium, but the Small Date is less common.
