Sounds like you had the chance for a GREAT buy. An 1814 in 63/64 condition would fetch $3K - $5K pretty easily, check out these prices:

Alas, none of my coins are in MS condition, but they were once... ;) They're all used and purchased as cheap as I could get them, :D :D :D, LOL BLUE COLLAR...

lol its better than buying twenty cent pieces for 5 grand. i am beginning to think coins start at 3k what a horrible thought.

Hmmm, well he is going to be at next weeks show and he told me that he was setting it aside until after that show because he knew that I would be back for it. Dang dealers. All of my BHD's are like yours, this one just stood out. Funny how the majority of the dealers here when I ask them about Busties, they say, I dont have many because nobody wants them, they show me what they do have, I ask a price and they are generally 2-3x greysheet on them. The commons are around $100 ea give or take. I think I seen one yesterday under $100 and it was trashed.

Back to work for me., Have a great day gang

    ben.
thank you so much for sharing. i am impressed w/ all the history and personal stories involved in each coin. those early circ coins have so much character. you have also assembled an excellent set for a moderate cost. coin collecting is not just for the rich. i am still on dial up but it was worth every moment waiting for the pics to load!!!
perhaps i missed it, but how long have you worked on this set?
another question, if i may, is...when did you go from yr collecting to die varieties, or had you already progressed that far when you began the set?
once again, i want to thank you for the sharing of your fine collection as well as, and especially (w/ several others), the sharing of your knowledge with members here. it is greatly appreciated.
    sincerely,
    steve

Steve, it was about six years ago was when I purchased my first Bust Half Dollar (already had a few which were inherited). Only about 3 years ago was when I started on the varieties and looking beyond the dates.

    Take Care

I wonder if the ole Dugged Bone has noticed the Ebay estate sale with all the CBH's, especially the 1834/1834 one?

I know their prices are HIGH but I've noticed that when a seller has something overpriced and it doesn't sell, they'll usually re-list it at a lower price or put it up for auction. So, I put it in my little watched list and wait a few days after the Buy It Now has ended (without a buyer) and use the old listing to access their store and there it is, re-listed again but at a lower price or up for auction. And sometimes, when I'm feeling really toadie, I'll make them a "reasonable" offer and if the offer is quite a bit lower than the asking price, I give them my song and dance about how I'm just a little collector and can't afford much working at McDonalds but their beautiful coin would look so good in my little collection, would they please consider my offer.

While the coin is overpriced for Ebay, it is still a gorgeous CBH! :hammer:

Just thinking, perhaps this post should fall into the Members Auction Listing?

    What's that? I haven't been there yet.

Ps: Never mind! I know that forum just forgot what its name was. :headbang:

The only problem is that's not my coin so I'm not going to take up my time slot posting an overpriced coin for someone else. If posting links to ongoing auctions is against the rules, other than the Auction Forum, I'll start downloading pics of the coins I'm talking about and uploading them for reference. The only problem with that is if a member is interested in the coin, they have no clue where it is and I don't save the link.
