Not going to say anything besides just providing the link: https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/22/harriet-tubman-20-bill-no-longer-coming-in-2020.html
I agree with @Dougmeister . Jackson was the only president to disobey a Supreme Court ruling, illegally killing tens of thousands of women and children on the Trail of Tears. I have no idea why he is honored on currency. He was a war criminal. If the Hague trials were happening then, that is where he would have been judged. I am not one to get in a snit trying to rewrite history and judge those in the past based upon modern morals. His illegal actions were written about at the time, but politically he could not be touched.
Jackson was scum. Period. Without delving further into politics, I will just say that my thoughts on our currency is that it is ugly. I would love to see some redesigns to something more pleasing to the eye. Shame that that won't happen any time soon now.
The sooner we make our currency look less traditional, and more like everyone else's, the sooner comes the demise of the Dollar. We really don't need to accelerate the inevitable. Be careful what you wish for.
Just what we all knew anyways. No way in heII the Tubman note will be issued under our current administration. Also, if the bill is gonna be that fugly, we don't need it. It will be known as the Susan B. Anthony of currency! Surely they can do something about the looks, don't you think?
Not saying it needs to look less traditional. Old dead guys could use a change though. How about we celebrate/honor something/someone else from America’s history?
At the time, the natives were killing American women and children too. Scalping, raping, burning settler homes. To call President Jackson a war criminal shows your ignorance of history. He was a war hero, defending this country's citizens from the savages who in thousands of years of civilization never evolved past their primitive ways.
In those days Men were Men, not like the watered down version(younger generation) we have today. My former husband was a Man's Man and had books on all the past early Presidents. He always would comment on Old Hickory and what he did for the United states! As a female in my late 50's I really notice the changes in todays men. Not really into all the Millennial PC soft stuff. When that generation grows up perhaps they will see with different eyes looking at their younger group peers. Yes, I voted EDITED: Please read the rules on politics!
Really, MY ignorance? How much have you read about the Five Civilized tribes? Your blatantly racist post is sickening. Don't worry, I am unsubscribing to the thread so I do not have to be subject to any reply. One of the worst posts I have seen on the site in a decade......
Yeah, murdering civilians, and forcibly deporting peacefully settled natives qualifies for a war hero. Read about the 5 civilized tribes.
Yup. Odd, especially since if you actually read the article nothing has changed except the timing of the switch to a new design. They still plan on making the change. Thread title is kind of misleading. Kinda.
Ok, all posting here now, Raise your hands if YOU personally saw the above era as it happened! No one here did! History is history as it is past the life of the current populace posting. The people who write the history documentation are commonly not Unbiased, but millions may believe their writings and pass it long as totally truth. You may not believe the History others quote, but you can not prove otherwise, even if your great -great grandpa was in it and told you so, You can believe it but even relics often do not prove it. So lets not irritate others who have as much right to say you are wrong as you to say they are, there are never a winner in this, only bad relationships, so think long before posting. Thanks Jim
I seen on the late news last night . The security features for this note, won't be ready in time for 2020 .. https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/22/politics/mnuchin-pressley-harriet-tubman-20-dollar-bill/
Relevant point which is getting lost in the recent media coverage: This isn't news. The fact that the next currency generation would be delayed to 2026 was announced in May 2016, by the previous administration. Whether you're pro or anti the people running the country at the moment, you shouldn't be crediting or blaming them for this development....
