Hello fellow treasure hunters. Looking for an expert opinion. I have found two 1966 SMS quarters with possible DDO, since there is very little info available, hoping to seek guidance and wisdom from the Yoda's of the coin world. Possible MD since there doesn't seem to be much out there, what do you think?
Mark, love your pic! We have had Westies for years. Our current one....Mr. Brody is a handful! Back to the topic at hand, it appears to be MD. Keep on searching!
This is DDO-005. Compare your coin to these photos. http://varietyvista.com/12 Kennedy Halves/DDO Detail Pages/1966PDDO005.htmNotice the split serifs and notching? Also the doubling is the same height, it also adds to the devices as far as thickness. Most MD examples take away from the devices making them thinner/smaller. I think you know what you have.Welcome to CT. We are always happy to help.
The OP said his coins were SMS Quarters. http://www.doubleddie.com/1966537.html http://varietyvista.com/09b WQ Vol 2/DDOs 1966.htm Variety Vista lists a DDO-001 and DDO-002 but no photo of DDO-001 I agree with those who called it MD.
It looks like machine doubling to me, too! P&G, what have you been smoking? The OP posted photos of quarters, not halves. On second thought, send me some in case Gianni comes back. Chris
Not sure maybe just a couple of pushy door to door salesmen. the devices and details shouldn't change to much. I wasn't thinking his coin was gonna be the same variety, it was just a visual to the right kind of doubling, compared to his MD example.
