Here is a medieval coin I picked up of Robert of Anjou. Many were listed by a single seller & this had the best decent weight/face combo. Robert of Anjou (1309 - 1343 A.D.) AR Gigliato O: + ROBЄRTUS DЄI GRA IЄRL ЄT SICIL RЄX. King enthroned holding sceptre in right hand and globus cruciger in left, cross at neck. R: + ҺOҺOR RЄGIS IUDICIU DILIGIT., cross fleury with lys in each quarter. 3.85g 24.5mm Naples Mint, Italy Biaggi 1634 MIR (Varesi) 28
What a cool coin @Mat, kind of a English a bit, and French a bit! If I knew a "giglato" was a type of silver coin, I had forgotten!
Oh! Nice! I like these gigliati. They've been on my radar for a year or so. Very handsome medievals. I put this one in my watchlist after one I liked even more (and almost bought) ended up being sold. I don't know if I'd ever end up actually buying it, but ... well ... I bookmarked it anyway. You know how that goes. So I don't have one of those yet, but I did scratch the itch for a "seated king" medieval type (and covered the Crusaders, too) when I bought this one from CNG earlier this year. It is at PCGS as we speak. Wish me luck. Crusader States (Lusignan Kingdom of Cyprus): silver gros petit of Henry II, ca. 1285-1324 Ex-Classical Numismatic Group, USA, eAuction 435, Lot 447.
